Sleeping rough to support Byte Night
On Friday 6th October 2017, LastMileLink team members Eduard Lazar and Vince McGarvey joined forces with Harvey Nash to take part in the annual Byte Night Sleep Out. We were joined by more than 1,500 people involved in the technology and business community. Byte Night, now the largest sleep-out event and part of the Action for Children charity, has the Duchess of Cambridge as Royal Patron and has raised more than £11.1 million over the last 20 years to become a worthy winner of 2017 Charity of the Year award.
We we’re inspired to support Byte Night as their cause is so admirable and important- to help children, young people, parents and families to get out of homelessness . Our joint fundraising means that Action for Children can continue to support some of the 83,000 young people who find themselves homeless every year in the UK through no fault of their own.
At LastMileLink we set a target of £2,000 to fundraise and we’re delighted to have have raised over 90% ( £1825.00) so far, just £175.00 to go until our late February 2018 deadline! In order to fundraise we organised several events to engage the whole CitySprint Group, including a hotdog eating competition and a band night made up of our own team members called ‘Maxim the platform’.
While a symbolic gesture compared with the hardship endured by the people Action for Children support, we got involved with the Byte Night Sleep Out which involved sleeping on a tarpaulin, inside a sleeping bag, inside a plastic bivvy bag. We will continue to work towards our £2,000 target, helping Action for Children to raise money for those who really need it.
